Department:

The DSM Innovation Center has been established to accelerate and support innovation within DSM. In close cooperation with the DSM Business Groups, the DSM Innovation Center plays an important part in achieving the innovation objectives presented in DSM’s strategy, named Vision 2010 – Building on Strengths, which focuses on accelerating profitable and innovative growth of the company’s specialties portfolio. The DSM Innovation Center comprises a Business Incubator (aimed at developing new emerging businesses), the Corporate Technology Management office and an Innovation Shared Service Center (including licensing, venturing and intellectual property activities). Besides providing innovation support to other parts of DSM, it has the lead in nurturing and guiding DSM's Emerging Business Area programs Personalized Nutrition, Biomedical Materials, Specialty Packaging and White - or industrial - Biotechnology.
The DSM Innovation Center has various locations across the world. However, the majority of the employees are located in the Urmond office (Maastrich Area, The Netherlands).

In order to strengthen the business analyst group in the Business Incubator we are looking for an ambitious high potential to fill in the challenging position of Business Analyst.

Role:

Within focal innovation areas (Climate Change Induced Innovation and New Business Development Performance Materials) the Business Incubator is heavily involved in shaping the innovation portfolio. Topics currently being addressed are e.g. biopolymers, advanced polymers for high end applications and various other initiatives driven by climate change in which elements like CO2 reduction, scarcity of water and linked towards innovation programs within DSM.

The Business Analyst is responsible for identifying and analysing business development opportunities for these areas. The Business Analysts generates market insights and makes recommendation for further business development taken into account the business opportunities and threats and organization’s strengths and weaknesses. He or she quickly understands the business issues and data challenges of organization and industry and is capable to combine conceptual, analytic and critical thinking skills and apply analytical frameworks and methodologies to gathered information. The Business Analyst will pro-actively set up and work together with both external and internal relations to achieve these tasks. The Business Analyst is also involved in project execution and assists in enforcement of project deadlines and schedules. To be successful, the business analyst should use his/her communication, collaboration and influence skills to turn ideas into actions/projects benefiting the business.. It’s important that the Business Analyst understands the components of running a successful project and consistently delivers high-quality service. This job will be the start of a career in Business Development within DSM.

Requirements:

• Academic degree in either marketing/business administration or applied science related areas with proven cross functional knowledge and interest
• At least 3 years relevant working experience, preferably in the B to B industry.
• Above average analytical, planning and organization skills.
• Excellent conceptual team player with solid judgement skills.
• Strong communication, collaboration and influence skills, to turn ideas into actions/projects benefiting the business.
• Ambitious high potential, self-propelling.
• Flexible and keen to learn new things.
